Travelling to Thassos by car/road/ferry boat
Thassos is served by the mainland ports of Kavala and Keramoti. The city of Kavala and the port of Keramoti are both easy to reach from the Ignatia Odos (European highway E90) which is the main motorway serving the whole of the north of Greece, from Igoumenitsa on the west coast to Alexandroupolis in the east, close to the Turkish border. The E90 provides road connections to all of the Balkans and to the south of Greece and also passes Thessaloniki, Greece’s second city.
The Kavala route to Thassos takes about one hour and 15 minutes and arrives at Skala Prinos. This route has a maximum of 5 sailings to the island during the summer months. Skala Prinos to Studios Haris is 26 km’s. From Skala Prinos you will take the ring road and travel in a clockwise direction (following signs for Potamia/Skala Potamia), bypass Limenas and go through Panagia, after another 2.5 km’s you will reach Potamia – carry on for another 1.5 km’s and you will see Harris on the left hand side of the road.
The fastest and shortest ferry route to Thassos is from Keramoti and is preferred by many as there are departures every half an hour during the summer and the journey time is only 35 minutes. The boat docks in Limenas (Thassos Town) which is only a 12 kilometre journey to Harris. Follow the signs from the ferry port for Panagia/Potamia/Skala Potamia and as above go through Panagia and on for a further 4 kilometres where you will find your studio or apartment waiting for you on the left hand side of the road.

Potamia sits at the foot of the Ipsarion mountain range, overlooked by Ipsarion (1204 meters) itself.
